The other day as we were getting ready for naps, Tyler asked if we could do silly faces in the mirror. Why of course!
So Mommy went and got her camera ( because who wouldn't want to document that?! ) and we did some silly faces.
Holy cow do my teeth look yellow! YIKES

Tyler's Homework
Here is Tyler's first homework assignment from his first week of school.
The first paper said to point to each letter and only give your kid SIX seconds to answer. I pointed to A and then B and by the time I pointed to C Tyler was already reading F! haha Makes me laugh.
This sheet says to point to an object that is the color and ask your child what color it is. Um...that's too easy. SO I pointed to the word and said, "What does that say?" and he would read it to me and then I would say, "Point to something that is that color."

The last page said to tell your kid to write out the alphabet as best they can with NO help from you. So That is what I told Tyler. I told him to sing to himself the alphabet song and he'd do fine. Then I went and made his lunch. He only missed one letter! WOO HOO
Then it says to tell them to write as many numbers as they can. He got up to 23 and then he tells me, "Mom I'm gonna stop now!" hee hee
I was pretty impressed with how well he wrote his alphabet with no help. Normally he writes HUGE and runs out of space but this time he did it perfect. Good job Tyler.

Kayla Painting
Kayla had a good first day of TYLER'S kindergarten. haha She asked mommy if we could paint. I said, "Sure!" She had a blast painting...herself. :) Check her out
Ain't she a cutie! The next day she played with playdough. Today, we went on a walk, painted AND played with playdough. Notice how I didn't mention NAPS! Yeah...because Tyler's school gets out at 3:30 her normal nap time wasn't gonna cut it. So we have TRIED to switch to an hour earlier. So far....not happening. I am crossing my fingers she naps tomorrow. We'll see.

First Day of School
Today our lives have changed forever! Like I mean FOREVER! Tyler started school this morning. He has been SO excited to start. He has been counting down the days and keeps telling me, "Mom, I can't wait to start school. I can't and I WON'T!" haha Um okay Tyler. He's very dramatic.
Any ways. Today was the day. Yesterday there was some lightning and a power line got hit and started a fire. Our power went out and didn't come back on until almost midnight! It was REALLY hot in the house and I was so worried that the power wouldn't come back on and school would be canceled. He would have been DEVASTATED! So glad he came back on. He was awake before 6! He must have been so excited he couldn't stand it.
We took some pictures before we left. Mommy took a couple of him getting ready to go.
He was just sitting watching TV waiting for mommy to tell him it was time to go.
Here we were getting ready to leave.
Can you tell in the picture that Tyler is at least a foot Tyler then everyone!? haha My friend kept saying, "Oh my gosh, Tyler is huge!" I kept saying, "I know." He told me, "I didn't realize how big he was until I see him around kids his age."
He was supposed to draw a pretty picture for his teacher to hang up on the wall! He decided to draw a picture of himself and write, "I am excited!" Man I love this kid.
We left him and Kayla yelled "Bye Tyler!" We drove home and when I went to get her out of the car I said, "Are you ready to go inside now?" To which she replied, "No I go get my Tyler." I said, "Nope we can't go get him until later." And then she started balling.
We walked into the house and she moped around for about an hour wondering what to do with HER Tyler. Finally mommy got out the paints and she had a blast! I took pictures but they aren't on the computer yet. Maybe later on today I'll get them up. Then she had a bath and now she is about to have lunch.
The first day is almost over! It's a minimum day so we pick him up a little after one. I can't believe how fast the first day was. I am sure I will get LOTS of talking the rest of the day and hopefully tomorrow morning he can sleep passed 6! Here's hoping anyways.

What a big boy! He loves his new shirt and picked it out special for the first day. He is also super proud of his new shoes. AND his lunch box!
We got to school and I handed my friend Kevin the camera ( he is here visiting ) so that I could help Tyler. He took some pictures of Tyler's desk, his cubby and Tyler drawing a picture for the teacher!

Well
I suck! How horrible have I been at blogging lately. I can tell you the reason...once I got my mac it seemed so much harder for me to shrink pictures. I don't know if y'all know this about me or not BUT I like pictures. I hate blogging without pictures and so for me it has been a constant struggle to get pictures shrunk so I can blog about them.
I am going to try EXTRA hard in the next couple of months to blog at LEAST once a week. YOu heard me....don't hold your breath or anything but that is what I am planning.
I have missed lots of things I still wish to blog about and WILL still blog about. So at thew beginning of the post if it is from a past event I will be sure to let you know.
Just so this post is not void of pictures here you go
We made it up to Alton in July for the 4th of July weekend. We had lots of fun and I got to take some great pictures. This is one of the many things I need to blog about. So for now, just know it's coming. Also, I FINALLY updated all of our outdated stuff on here. Our profile, our pictures on the side. Man it took me long enough. And now I must go back to cleaning my house. We are having the missionaries over for dinner and I need to get more of my house picked up and then start working on making the dinner.
See y'all next week....I swear!

Crazy Days of Summer
Here is how my kids entertain themselves while mom is cooking and cleaning. By the way, I did not strip their clothes off of them or put the helmets on. Aren't they styling?!

The Kids
Kayla does this thing where she pretends to be an animal. She LOVES doing it. So much so that when she pretends to be a kitty she will meow and then lick my arm. NICE! Whenever she pretends to be an animal she will make the noise of that animal and then one of us will say, "Oh look it's a baby kitty." Then she will bark and we'll say, "Oh look it's a doggy!" Then she'll change to a pig or horse or cow. Ironically she ALWAYS asks mommy to be the cow. Hmmmmmmm
Any ways. She is so cute and clever. We noticed a month ago that she started discovering new animals that DIDN'T make sound but she would want to be them. SO she would get to something like a whale and didn't know what to do. So she would say, "Whale, Whale." My favorite ( and she does this one quite often ) is when she says, "Snail, Snail." It's so cute because she says it with a Southern accent! :)
And the boy....man he has been a GRUMPY old man lately. Even when saying something to me where he should have no emotion in his voice he sounds angry. It's so annoying. But when he decides to be sweet he is SWEET! Yesterday after finishing lunch and having peanut butter ALLLLL over his hands, he walked to the kitchen sink to wash them off. On his way to the sink he stuck his booty out at me and said, "My can you pull the underwear out of my bum please." So polite like. I laughed and then politely declined. Too bad for me since I laughed he knew he had said something funny so I am sure he will ask me again sometime soon just to get a laugh out of me.
Kayla has discovered Jalapeno Cheese Cheetohs. NOPE it was not ME he gave them to her ( or buys them ). I prefer the flaming hot ones but those are too hot for her liking. I used to eat a bag of flaming hots with a 12 oz dr. pepper everyday for lunch in high school. Sometimes I would throw in a cookie too. NOw I eat lots of fruit and fiber and hardly ever have dr. pepper or flamming hots and weigh a million pounds more. Go figure.
ANYWAYS.
She has discovered them and LOVES them. Her and daddy share them together. Yesterday she brought them to me at lunch time and said, "Peeeeeeease momma, Peeeeease." So I out some on a plate for her and then cooked her a hot dog. I put ketchup on the plate so she could dip her hot dog in it and she felt in necessary to dip the cheetohs in the ketchup instead. She LOVED it actually! YIKES.
Tyler gave his first talk in Primary on Sunday. Mommy had to give a lesson at the same time so I didn't get to sneak in and here him. He is usually so brave and ready and willing to talk in front of people so I wasn't worried. We typed it up for him and made him read it to us several times. One word kept tripping him up but otherwise he would do great. After church we asked him how it went. He said, "Well, I skipped a little bit." Hmmmmmm. So when we got home I had him show me what part he "skipped". Apparently half way through the talk he got nervous and decided to just say, "In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen." haha That kid cracks me up. He said, "Mom, I got a little nervous." Maybe he won't be asked to give a talk again! haha
I figured this would be a nice break from the Disneyland pictures, although for day 3 we only have like 10 any ways. SO the next post will probably be day three from there. Until then...
